About Us
Shortsville Rod and Gun Club was established in 1940 and is located in the picturesque Finger Lakes, New York region. Our Club offers Trap and Skeet shooting, as well as a fully equipped rifle and pistol range.
We currently have three Trap fields, each with voice activated target release, and one Skeet field. Our 25, 50, and 100 yard Pistol and Rifle ranges have a shooting shelter.
We usually Staff the Club on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings from 9 am to noon. Members and guests are welcome to attend and enjoy shooting or just to socialize. Members also have access to the Club at any time.
Our Club supports Junior shooters, providing coaching and financial assistance for shells and target fees.
Our Club House is available for rental. Host your wedding receptions, graduation parties, etc.
Our History:
The Shortsville Road and Gun Club was organized in 1940, and a log cabin was the first Club House, originally located on the property belonging to the Papec Machine Company. The Club disbanded in the late fifties and was reestablished in 1965.
In 1969 the Club purchased 80.1 acres of land from Clayton Trautman. A land fund was set up to raise money to help pay for the property; donations were made by many Members and others gave loans. Sufficient funds were obtained in only three years, and in 1972 the land was deeded to the Club.
A new Club House was built in 1971 by Members and the old log cabin was sold to the Boy Scouts for one dollar. In 1991 a new driveway, 1400 ft. long and 40 ft. wide was purchased from Thomas C. West.
In the Spring of 1995 Members built a 30 ft. x 40 ft. addition to the Club House.
Trap and Skeet fields were constructed and two pavilions were built by Members. One of these pavilions is used by the Long Riders, members of the SASS organization, who in 1995 began holding their events at our Club.
